Similar to a glute bridge. The hip thrust is a great position when you want to load up with some weight to really get those glutes firing up. You can add a cushion into your lap and put dumbells or other weights on it. Many people though don't do this move correctly and end up placing strain on their lower back which we certainly don't want to do when there's weights involved.
